Zone Trivia and Games Forum Guidelines
We here in The Zone welcome anyone in our games and forum. We love getting new players and growing constantly. We do, however, ask that players use common courtesy. Treat others with the same respect you would expect them to show you. Most of our games are geared towards being "family-friendly;" there are of course times when this isn't true. Overall, we want our players and staff to have fun in our games and forum.
Even though enforcing AOL TOS rules is not totally possible, TOS rules DO state that if a Private Room becomes known to the general public, it is to be considered as such. This would put the TOS rules into effect. We are not looking to do this. However, certain TOS rules will be enforced by your chat being suspended in the room. Our decisions will be final on all matters, and we will deem how long your chat privileges will be suspended.
The following TOS rules will be enforced as we see fit on a case by case basis.
Respect Others
-
Do not harass, abuse, or threaten another member. If you disagree with someone, respond to the subject, not the person, and even then do it in a respectful manner.
- Do not use hate speech. Hate speech is unacceptable, and we reserve the right to take appropriate action against any player using the forum to post, transmit, promote, distribute, or facilitate distribution of content intended to victimize, harass, degrade, or intimidate an individual or group on the basis of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation.
- Room disruption is a broad term which may be used as a reason to suspend your chat. This includes anything that will slow the game in progress for no reason at all; i.e. sending excessivly long lines of text off topic, sending graphics to the room during a game, questioning every move someone makes, and similar things.
- Sending links to the chat room. We have become somewhat lax with this long-standing rule. If the link pertains to trivia, or is sent by staff that is fine. However, we do ask that players do not send numerous links to the room. In many cases a site may have a virus or adware attached to it. Other than that it can disrupt the game along the way. for this guideline if you are warned again and again your chat may be suspended. We will show quite a bit of leeway with this one though.
All of our staff are volunteers. They put hard work into preparing and running games for everyone to enjoy. Scorekeepers also put in hard work to keep track of the points in all the games.
Please respect this fact; do not disrupt the games or openly question them in the room again and again. If you believe an answer or question to be incorrect, let the host know in an instant message or email, or mention it in a respectful, non-disruptive manner in the room. If a scorekeeper misses scoring your points, please do speak up in the room so they know, BUT do it in a polite, friendly, and non-disruptive manner.
Habitual offenders of any of the above risk having their chat privileges in the room suspended for extended periods of time.
The room is ALWAYS being logged. If you have a complaint against someone please email me at ZONETGShockMe@aol.com to report it. I will review the log and make a decision based on the above guidelines. Keep in mind all logs will be reviewed, so you may have chat suspended some time AFTER the event took place. |
